FAN FAILURE

I received a message from the integrated server log saying that "System Fan Failure". Does this mean the fan next to the CPU is out of order ?

Re: FAN FAILURE

You would need to physically check the server fans to determine which fan has failed.

Re: FAN FAILURE

If it is the CPU fan, just connect the leads to the CPU fan to the little FAN. Your server will boot then (still giving an error message). It won't boot when the CPU fan is broken.

Re: FAN FAILURE

Does a fan without a sensor work in the same way?

Re: FAN FAILURE

The fan without "heartnbeat" signal is working the same. Howevere, both fans should ideally have heartbeat sensors. If they don't then at least the CPU fan should have one. I bought a 220v ac fan, connected directly to the power supply. The heartbeat signal (the original power leads) are now connected to the little fan. The original leads to the little fan ar now obsolete. Server is now booting with an error message stating that the little fan is not working. But it boots, and it does so with this cheap solution :-)
