Hanging on shutdown/restart

We have recently installed a fresh copy of Windows 2000 on our ProLiant 3000 server. Since we upgraded to the v5.14.0.0 version of the Drive Array Driver, we cannot shutdown or restart successfully. It simply hangs at a blank screen during shutdown or restart, and after about 30 seconds it turns all the drive access lights on and just sits there. We tried reinstalling the older version of the drivers (v5.3.2.0) and the same problem occurs. Since this did not happen with the default Windows drivers, we went back to using those drivers. However, now, the problem still occurs. I checked the cpqarray.sys file, and it has been downgraded to the correct (older) Windows version, so it is my thoughts that there must be something that the newer versions of the drivers have put in the registry to cause this.

If noone can tell me at least how to fix the problem with the Compaq drivers, is there a way to fully remove the Compaq drivers from the system (as obviously, the changes they made are still there)

Hi, Suggesting to upgrade the system board firware as well as the array contoller firware 1st and then run the latest SCU utility you might be fine with this newer driver after. Hope this will help

Unfortunately, no, I have already tried updating the BIOS of the ProLiant itself and of the controller. We are also running the latest software versions of all drivers and controller management applications (I have downloaded the latest SupportPAQ and installed it).

I have experienced the same scenario, it is very frustrating. Especially when requesting a remote reboot... the unit never finishes and I have to drive into the office.

I have found the solution of this problem for me.
Remove DirectX (it is probably 8.1) with something like "directx buster"
Remove Windows Media player (probably patched to 7.1)

This has been a real problem for a year now. Thanks Compaq for helping us fix this problem
