Hangs on starting GUI mode in setup

We have a Compaq DL380R with an embedded SCSI which we are NOT using and a Compaq 5300 Smart Array controller which we are using. When installing Windows 2000 without SmartStart (but using the latest Comaq device driver) Windows 2000 hangs at the point where setup is about to go into GUI mode. We have repeated this on other machines with the same setup and believe it to be a bug. Has anyone seen this or does anyone know a work around?

Try setting machine OS type to Windows NT and then Windows 2000 in the bios. This did the job for me.
