HDD not found. ProLiant ML310e.
HDD is not found or recognized in my new ML310e server. I purchased this HDD and this Caddy to go into bay 1:
Caddy:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EO9YVOY/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDD:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088PUEPK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The LED on the caddy powers up, blinks 3 times then does not turn on. The HDD is not found in the BIOS or when I install an OS. Tried plugging the hdd directly by a sata cable, still nothing. Do not know what to do/why it is not recognizing.
Does this server require specific hdds?
someone have any insight?

Re: HDD not found. ProLiant ML310e.
Hi,
HP Hard Drives and its Smart Array controllers have specific firmware which talk to each other when installed.
Here in this case the drive/firmware is not of HP.
Gen8 has to be installed with HP SmartDrive and HP SmartMemory, the older generation drives or memory wont work with Gen8 servers.
Good Luck!
Thank You!
