help with proliant 1000 Compaq System Configuration Utility

I have just got a proliant 1000 server for free. But the company wiped the hard drive and the bios so I downloaded Compaq System Configuration Utility but it keeps saying that I must put in disk 2 even though disk 2 is in and is a perfectly working stiffie can anyone help?

Hi,

What is the exact error we are getting can you please revert with that.

Have you tried to reconfigure the server after erasing all the information from server.Use the utility avable on following link and try.

Re: help with proliant 1000 Compaq System Configuration Utility

the bios starts like this
8192 kb ok
compaq system bios (08/17/1998)
copyright

172-eisa configuration nonvolatile memory invalid initialization aborted
scsi device detected eisa slot 8 scsi :id 3 compaq c2247, scsi device detected eisa slot 8 scsi id 4 :compaq st34371n ,scsi device detected eisa slot 8 scsi id 5 compaq cdrom cr503bcq
162-system options not set, run systems configuration utility , resume = f1 key

the exact error is

insert the diskette labeled :

Compaq system Configuration Utility
disk 3 -configuration (.cfg) files

continuee=enter

then i put in disk 3 and press enter and the screen just pops up again

insert the diskette labeled :

Compaq system Configuration Utility
disk 3 -configuration (.cfg) files

continuee=enter
if i want to install the system partion it is disk two that gives me the problem the disks are fine as both of them have been used as disk one before

2 OFF Overdrive Processor bus speed Intel 486 DX2 Overdrive Processor installed Off (open) when a 486 DX2 Overdrive processor is installed
On (closed) when a 486 DX2/66 processor is installed

3 ON Processor bus speed Factory set, not changed Default On (Closed) for both processor speed settings
----------------------------------------

System Switch Settings - SW2
Position Default Function Description Settings
1 OFF Video disable override Used when ROM does not detect an installed video card Default. Off (open). ROM auto-detects an optional video card. If one is not detected, then onboard video is enabled.
On (closed). Onboard video is disabled.

2 OFF Lock Configuration Enables or disables the ability to write to NVRAM to reconfigure the system. Default. Enables the configuration in nonvolatile memory.
3 OFF Reserved Factory set. Not changed by end user Allways Off (open)
4 OFF Diskette Boot Override Enables system booting from the diskette drive regardless of the configuration setting. Default. System booting from the diskette drive is controlled by the configuration settings.

On (closed). Power-On Password is disabled.

6 OFF Maintenance Invalidates NVRAM configuration data. Default. Off (open). NVRAM is valid.

Where as per the previous instructions after clearing the nv ram then have you tried to reconfigure the server again to check for any error information.

Re: help with proliant 1000 Compaq System Configuration Utility

sorry that it has taken me so long to reply but i have been working ovetime.
i have got the scu loaded, but now i keep getting 00F00004 00 -system board memory
201 memory error (run test)
run diagnostics

01000004 00 -system board memory
201 memory error (run test)
run diagnostics

00F00000 01 -system board memory
203 memory addresss error

then i load scu and i start the system configure and then i start the hardware configuration and it displays an error of a small blue screen which says
exception 2
aix=001 bx=0020 cx=0068 dx=0068 sp=0000 bp=029c si=0000 di-05e6 ds=0010 es=0029 ss=0004 cs-0100 ip=0129 flags=3046 then it stalls and i have to reboot after a while the memmory problems go away and i boot into dos 6.22 .
but before dos starts i get a msg parity check 2 system board memory

i found out through the scu and diags that i have a pentuim based 60 Mhz system
it has 16 meg of onboard memmory

is there any way to disable the system memmory.
