Hot-replacing non-failed drives on a DL380 G7 / P410i in a RAID 1+0
Hello,
I've got four SATA 6GB/s HDDs (WD40EURX-633) combined into a RAID 1+0 Array running in my old DL380 G7 server (at a transfer rate of 3GB/s because the P410i uses SATA drives only up to that limit).
All drives are good but I still like to replace them with some equally sized ST4000NM0034 SAS drives to get the full transfer speed of 6 Gbps.
Is it possible to hot-replace them and just wait for the array to be rebuilt just like if a drive was broken?
Will the P410i controller accept a different drive as a replacement if it's of the same size?
Will the P410i controller go to 6Gbps after all drives have been replaced (and the array is rebuilt each time) automatically?
Thanks a million!

Re: Hot-replacing non-failed drives on a DL380 G7 / P410i in a RAID 1+0
Hello,
Mix and Match of SAS and SATA drives is not supported.
You need to have all the drives as SAS or SATA in an array.
So if you need to replace all the SATA with SAS, you need to take a backup of the data, replace the drives , create RAID and then you can recover the data from the backup.
Thanks,
TAM
