I want to implement HARD RAID 0 or RAID 1 on ML150 G2 basic configration(380624-AA1)
with an additional 80G SATA hard drive(349237-B21),I wonder if I still need to an extra SATA RAID controller (372953-B21)?

Re: How ML 150 G2 implement SATA hard RAID
Please be aware the SATA controller included with the ML150 G2 SATA model is not a full-fledged hardware RAID card. You can configure either RAID 0 or RAID 1, but the processing is done by the system processor (there is no processor on the controller itself). Also there is no memory on this SATA controller, so system memory must be used. The optional SATA RAID controller is a true hardward RAID solution.
Hope this helps.

Re: How ML 150 G2 implement SATA hard RAID
I just got burned by this pseudo-raid card, was hoping to install freebsd on an ML150 G2. Can anyone confirm for me that the hot-plug backplane on this machine will work with a full-fledged hardware RAID card? Any suggestions on a card to get? We're just intending to mirror a pair of drives in RAID 1.
thanks!
