How to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers
Does anyone know how to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers. Can the USB tape drive be used for backup and recovery?
Thank you in advance,
Miguel

Re: How to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers
But anyway, if the tape supports OBDR (no idea if it does), you should be able to boot from. But this also depends on the backup application and the OS.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers
I've got a lot of time on DL class servers. Bootable tapes are not something they do.
Boot off a USB key with the right drivers and software to lay down tape contents to disk, yes.

Re: How to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers
Be aware, you are still in hp-ux land ...
Prepare an offline win$ cd (bart pe) and boot from. Backup your system (to a tape or a usb drive). Restore it the same way.
Very easy - just like igite (more or less ...).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
