Re: How to see the HP ProLiant DL380 RAID?
Good day!
To manage the RAID configuration on an HP ProLiant DL380 server, you typically use the Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) management interface or the Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) utility. Here are the general steps to view and manage the RAID configuration:
1. Using Integrated Lights-Out (iLO)
>> Access iLO- Connect to the iLO web interface by entering the server's iLO IP address in a web browser.>> Log in with your iLO credentials.
>> Navigate to Storage- Look for a section or tab related to "Storage" or "Array Configuration."
>> View RAID Configuration- Check for an option like "Array Configuration" or "RAID Configuration." This should display the current RAID setup.
>> If you need to add a disk, there should be an option for "Add Physical Drive" or similar. Follow the prompts to add the new disk.
>> If you want to increase capacity, you might need to expand the existing RAID volume. This option may be under "Logical Drives" or a similar category.
>> Rebuild RAID Array- After adding a new disk or expanding the RAID, the system may need to rebuild the array. This process typically happens automatically, but you should check the status.
2. Using Smart Storage Administrator (SSA)
>> Boot into Smart Storage Administrator- You can access SSA during the server's boot process. Press the necessary key (often F8) to enter the Smart Array Configuration utility.
>> View and Manage RAID- In SSA, you can view the existing RAID configuration, add new disks, and expand RAID volumes.
>> Add a Disk- Navigate to the option for adding a new physical drive and follow the prompts.
>> Expand RAID Volume- If needed, find the option to expand an existing logical drive to make use of the new disk's capacity.
>> Rebuild RAID- Check the status of the RAID array. If you added a disk, there might be a rebuild process. Monitor the progress.
Caution...
>> Before making any changes to the RAID configuration, especially when adding or replacing disks, ensure that you have a backup of your data. RAID operations can pose a risk of data breakage if not performed correctly.
>> Ensure that the new disk you are adding is compatible with your existing RAID configuration. Mixing disk sizes or types may have limitations.
>> Some RAID configurations may use a battery-backed write cache. Make sure the battery is healthy before making changes to prevent data breakage
Remember, these instructions are general guidelines, and the exact steps may vary based on your server model and the RAID controller in use. Always refer to the specific documentation for your HPE ProLiant DL380 server and RAID controller for accurate information. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the process, consider contacting HPE Support for further assistance.
Let me know how it goes...
