Re: Hp DL380 Gen9 server not displaying

Hello,

If the server's iLO has been configured and reachable, please browse to the iLO's IP address, login and review the error messages in the IML logs.

If there were any changes made to the server's hardware, revert it to previous configuration and check if there is display.

You may refer to from section "Front panel LEDs and buttons" on page 85, up to end of section "Systems Insight Display LED combinations" on page 89 of the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Server's Maintenance and Service Guide for steps to identify issues with the server with the help of the LEDs on the server's front panel.

You may also swap known working power and VGA/Display Port cables connecting the server to the display to identify defective cables.

If a known working display is available swap it and check if the issue is resolved.

If there is no changes to the server hardware, the cables connecting to the server the display and the power cable of the display are working, then remove the power cables from the server's power supply and reseat components such as PCIe cards, risers etc to aviod possible issues due to loose connection.

If the issue persists, then clear the server's CMOS. For this purpose, you may refer to the position of item the denoted 'X' on the system board diagram titled "System board components" on page 93 of the above mentioned guide, to identify the system maintenance switch. Once identified, remove the power cables from the server, remove the access panel, and identify it on the system board. Next, set switch 6 to position 'On' and then close the server with the access panel, connect the power cables back to the server and power on. once powered on with the system maintenance switch's switch 6's position to 'On', you can expect to see a message indicating that one of the switches of the system mainteance switch has been turned on and its position needs to be reversed, if the issue is resolved by clearing CMOS.

If the issue is not resolved, then reduce the server to base configuration. Ensure only the processors installed, and the one memory module for each installed processor be left, removing all expansion cards and risers installed and power on the server. If there is display, then add one component at a time to isolate the issue.

Just in case if you have not checked, check the below ones:
1.power cables are securely connected to the server and power source.
2. monitor is properly connected to the server and is turned on.
3. Check the cables connecting the server to the monitor for any damage.

Look for any error indicators on the front panel of the server. LED lights or display messages may provide clues about the issue and Check if there are any blinking lights or error codes on the front panel that can help identify the problem.

Try Power off the server completely>> Reseat components such as RAM modules, expansion cards, and cables. Sometimes, loose connections can cause display issues.>> Power the server back on and check if the issue persists.

If your server is equipped with iLO, connect to it remotely using a web browser. iLO allows you to access the server's management interface even if the main server display is not working.>> Check iLO logs for any error messages or warnings that might indicate the cause of the issue.

If the server is part of a larger infrastructure with management software (such as HPE Systems Insight Manager), check for any health alerts or warnings that could point to hardware issues.

Test with a different monitor or cable to rule out any issues with the display equipment.

Update the server Firmware and drivers to the latest version.

If this does not help, contact the Support they will be able to help
