Re: HP DL380G4 Drive Expansion Issue
If you reboot it, the rebuild should continue, but if you turn it off, I'm quite sure it will STOP...
if you can access ACU and from conroller settings set the rebuild priority to "High", then reboot after the rebuild is finished

Re: HP DL380G4 Drive Expansion Issue
you know that procedure has to stages
first EXPAND (which has priority)
After that EXTEND which does
I don't in which one you are
but in EXPAND I added 2 more HDDs. I left until it reach 10 % I power down server wait almost 1 minute I power back on the server
I got this message in POST
Drive array resuming logical drive capacity expansion (attached picture)
I open ADU again and guess what it was 40 percent
so like I told you can even power off server
as well as rebooted without affecting HDD operation

Re: HP DL380G4 Drive Expansion Issue
sorry every time I write I do more mistakes (I am kinda hurry)
conclusion
you can do it reboot -- power down server (I did a hard power down not using windows, no no matter)
I would say controllers and HDDs are prepare for reboots and shutdowns since reboots and shutdown can happen at any time while a server is running for example (imagine I have 90% expand - 2 days in that- and I got a blue screen.... as well as my UPS fails during similar HDD operation)
so controllers / HDDs must resume the operation thee were previously doing

Re: HP DL380G4 Drive Expansion Issue
you definitely have a controller with BBWC?
The only explanation is that the battery saves the status...
If you don't have battery, then when you power off the server, the controller and the HDDs have no way to know the status.
However, I knew that you can reboot, but never believed it can continue after shutdown(even with BBWC)
