HP ML 350 G5 Server's Processor upgrading

hi, I have an hp ml350 g5 server with xeon dual core 5130 2.00/2GB/36*2 now i willing in upgrade it with xeon quad core 5410 2.33 processors. i purchase new processors from hp and when i assembled it found no display. but when i used my previouse processors it works properly.

Hi,

It seems that the systemboard already installed in the server does not support Quad core processor.It would be a systemboard supported only on dual core procesors only.

You would have to upgrade the systemboard as well

Yes ! This server does support Quad core processor but with Quad core compatible systemboards only.

Also Quad core systemboards are backward compatible !

i checked the systemboard i have and its part number 439399-001 means its updated and supportive board for quad core processors. Now in this scenario can u suggest me what should be my next step?

Try to swop the processors.

I mean MOVE processor FROM Slot 1 TO slot 2 and vice-versa.

I'm in the very same situation as Qutub-uz-Zaman.

How do I check what partno my mainboard has? I've checked the HP System Management Homepage but found only the serialno...?

Part Number of the Systemboard would written on the systemboard itself... i guess you will hv to open the server to check that.

Alternatively you can give the commplete desction of the server or the serial number of the server. I will get the server details accordingly and let u know.

you can get the Serial number of server from server itself , or from SMH under System Info on the home page.

Very kind of you - my server is very hard to reach as it is now and I would have to power it down. This is the MB details from SMHP:

BTW, the server was purchased in march 2007 and I have run the HP Firmware Maintenance CD v7.91 already.

As a bonus, would it be possible to install the old Xeon5130 in another ML350 (identical to this one with s/n CZJ707069J) so I'd get 2 CPU's in that one?
I.e. would the power regulator that comes with a QuadCore CPU upgrade kit fit in the other identical ML350 with the old Xeon5130?
