Hello All,
I am a home user and this is my first server. I have been doing a lot of research here and on Google.
Here is the solution that worked for me-SOLUTION to 2 207-207-Memory initialization errors & 295-DIMM Failure - Uncorrectable Memory Error was to pull out DIMMS, blow out the slots, blow off the DIMMS, & Reseat.
Below is what happened and more information-
System Name HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9
Product ID 719064-B21
BIOS Version P89 v2.76 (10/21/2019)
Backup BIOS Version P89 v1.40 (05/06/2015)
Boot Mode UEFI Mode
System Memory 384 GB (12x32GB LRDIMMs)
Processor 1 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2687W
Processor 2 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2687W
iLO Firmware Version 2.72
Several days ago on boot up I saw these memory errors.
Advanced Memory Protection Mode: Advanced ECC Support
Boot Mode: UEFI
Redundant ROM Detected - This system contains a valid backup system ROM
HPE SmartMemory authenticated in all populated DIMM slots.
207-Memory initialization error on Processor 1, DIMM 9. The operating system may not have access to all of the memory installed in the system.
207-Memory initialization error on Processor 1. DIMM 8. The operating system may not have access to all of the memory installed in the system.
295-DIMM Failure - Uncorrectable Memory Error -
Processor 1, DIMM 9.
This memory will not be available to the operating system.
ACTION: Replace the failed DIMM to restore the full amount of memory
I ordered 2 new 32GB DIMMs
I removed Proc#1 DIMM 9 B9 then moved Proc#2 F8 to Proc#1 B9
On next boot I saw these errors-
207-Memory initialization error on Processor 1, DIMM 12. The operating system may not have access to all of the memory installed in the system.
207-Memory initialization error on Processor 1. DIMM 11. The operating system may not have access to all of the memory installed in the system.
295-DIMM Failure - Uncorrectable Memory Error -
Processor 1, DIMM 12.
This memory will not be available to the operating system.
That didn't make sense, so I searched on here about 295-DIMM Failure- Uncorrectable Memory Error. I found one solution was to upgrade BIOS. I didn't do that because most of the download files were locked without a license. I kept searching here and found suggestions to check for bent pins on CPU and check DIMMS, Sockets, & reseat them. I removed DIMM 12, blew out the DIMM slot, reseated it., removed DIMM 11, did the same thing, then on next boot no memory errors. All 384GB show up. The reason I posted this is because in my search I found some posts regarding the 295-DIMM Failure message, which led me to think the DIMM was bad or I needed to upgrade BIOS. Only after reading posts about the 207- Memory initialization error did I find the right solution. I am hoping that the next person that has the 2 errors -207-Memory initialization error & 295-DIMM Failure might find this solution works for them before they spend days trying to find a BIOS to download and or buying new DIMMS.
