HP Proliant ML110 G7 with embedded Matrox G200EH - Screen resolution problem
Hi,
Last week I bought a new Proliant ML110 G7 (626474-421) with monitor HP Compaq LA2006x end installed SBS 2011 standard 64-bit.
Now I have a problem with the screen resolution: the native resolution of the monitor is 1600x900 and according to the HP QuickSpecs all around the HP website (http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c02789375.pdf) the embedded Matrox G200EH 16MB supports the following resolutions: 640x 480,800x 600,1024x 768,1152x 864,1280x 720, 1280x 768,1280x 960,1280x1024,1360x 768,1400x1050,1440x 900,1600x 900,1600x1200,1680x1050,1920x1080, 1920x120. However, the maximum resolution I can choose is 1280x1024, which really looks bad on this monitor.
The G200EH driver version installed is 1.0.9.0 from 26/04/2010.
After 2 chats with HP support I updated the chipsets, ran all possible HP and Windows updates, switched the monitor, all without succes. Apparently now the most recent internal specs are different from the ones that HP communicates on all its websites. New link to specs I got from HP support: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c02793565 . This document only lists the following resolutions:
- 600 x 1200, 64K, 256, 16
- 1280 x 1024, 16.7M, 64k, 256, 16
- 1024 x 768, 16.7M, 64k, 256,16
- 800 x 600, 16.7M, 64k, 256, 16
- 640 x 480, 16.7M, 64k, 256, 16
Does anyone have an idea on where to find a better driver for the graphics card or, when that should be impossible, which graphics card to buy to have at least a decent 1600x900 resolution.
Attached a screenshot.
Thanks in advance for any tips/replies!
Mathieu

And what happens if you go to 'Screen resolution -> Advanced -> Monitor ' and uncheck the box "Hide modes that monitor cannot display" ?

Re: HP Proliant ML110 G7 with embedded Matrox G200EH - Screen resolution problem
I'm having the same problem as the original poster.
I have tried to use the driver that you recommend and it now allows me to increase the resolution, but the refresh rate will only go up to 75 hertz and it is very difficult to scroll smoothly, everything is slow to respond. I've had to roll back to the standard vga graphics adapter. Do you have any recommendations?

Re: HP Proliant ML110 G7 with embedded Matrox G200EH - Screen resolution problem
Very easy. Just configure the color depth to 16 bit (default is 32bit).
Then the G200eH 16MB will support 1920x1200 resolution.
