HP ProLiant ML350 G6 - Smart Array P410i - Cache Error/Failed

Hello everyone,

Thanks in advance for trying to help

I came across an error on my iLO2 after restarting the server, saying:

POST Error: 1797-Drive Array - Array Accelerator Read Error Occurred

After that I checked Array Configuration Utility and it is giving me the following error:

Smart Array P410i in onboard slot: CACHE STATUS PROBLEM DETECTED: The cache on this controller has a problem. Error Code: 351

I have the HP 013277-001 Controller Battery Smart Array With Battery installed, the Battery LED is blinking YELLOW, the other LED is green. It is connected with the 512MB Battery Backed Write Cache (BBWC) Module 462975-001 013224-002.

I tried plugging it out of its socket and back in, but that did not help. I have the latest firmware as well.

As I want to get rid of this issue I guess I will have to replace both the 512MB Battery Backed Write Cache Module AND the Battery Pack ? Or is it just the Battery making problems ? How would I know ?

Re: HP ProLiant ML350 G6 - Smart Array P410i - Cache Error/Failed

Hello,

The section "1700 Series Error Messages" > "1797 Error Message" of the document "HPE ProLiant Servers - POST Error Messages and Beep Codes" indicates that the Battery Backed Write Cache (BBWC) Module needs to be replaced.

Re: HP ProLiant ML350 G6 - Smart Array P410i - Cache Error/Failed

Thank you for your help.

I decided to remove the battery pack and now I don't get any error.

For my understanding, the battery pack is only there to save the cache in a power loss situation ? Or has it any other value to the system ?

I don't want to replace it if not super necessary.

Re: HP ProLiant ML350 G6 - Smart Array P410i - Cache Error/Failed

Hello,

Apart from the functionality, it is also used when the array is being expanded, exteneded and some other array related activities, which help fails or cannot be done without it.
