HP SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter in DL380g5

I am trying to update the firmware on a SC44Ge to allow it to drive an HP LTO4 1760 tape drive housed in a 1U external unit.

This needs to be done as per CUSTOMER ADVISORY Document ID: c01373323 to prevent I/O errors.

I cannot get it to work. Here's the fun part, I am trying to do it using iLO as the server is 6000 miles away.

I can boot into DOS using virtual media, but when I run 'update p' nothing happens and the server reboots.

If I run sasflash.exe the server reboots.

I cannot run full tape backups until the firmware is updated.

Any ideas on how to get this working? Do I need any particular configs for the DOS boot disk?

Did you ever get this to work?

I just did my server this morning via ILO.

I updated both my remote servers this morning with the latest firmware, 06.18.05.00 (1.23.43.00A).

I still have i/o errors though.
