Server is DL380 G5 with Smart Array P400.
I have 1 disk array with a 1 logical drive that is a configured as raid(0+1).
I want to add two more drives to the array and convert it to raid5 (all disks are identical).
I have tried this online using the hpacucli tool (using v8.0-14.0). The hpacucli tool just complains that "this operation is not supported with the current configuration".
I have also tried with the ACU tool by booting off the SmartStart CD. Using this tool there appears to be no options at all to expand/modify arrays.
Does anyone know how to do this on SLES 10 SP1? I am running out of ideas fast.
Rgds,
Glenn.

Re: hpacucli to expand array on SLES 10 SP1
I am afraid (happens a lot) that when you geta p400 it only has cache(256 MB) wihout BBWC upgrade (battery and cable) that's why you can not expand / migrate / RAID 6 / and so on
""
# Online array expansion (with BBWC upgrade)
# Online logical drive extension (with BBWC upgrade)
# Online RAID level migration (with BBWC upgrade)
# Online strip size migration (with BBWC upgrade)
"""
BBWC means:
1.
Battery-backed write cache upgrade
383280-B21
Smart Array P400 Battery Attach Kit
417836-B21
or this in cable you want 512 MB and the BBWC
more memory means more performance
2.
512MB Battery-backed write cache upgrade
405148-B21
so now that you know that yuo have to buy something it's up to you which. Of course with both you will the options above available but basically first one only updates BBWC and second one will give BBWC and more memory (cache)
anything else just let us know
regards
