HPE DL380 G7 not showing 'Select Boot Volume' in ORCA

I bought a DL380 G7, and after installing a RAID 10 drive, ORCA does not allow me to select boot volume. I've tried resetting the bios and deleting my RAID array (There's nothing on it).

It only shows Create, View, and Delete.

Hello,

You may refer to document titled "HP Smart Array Controllers - F8 Option ROM Configuration of Arrays (ORCA) May Not Provide Expected Configuration Options" for more information.

This is unrelated. I usually see 'Select Boot Volume' in the option list

Greetings!

What is the firmware running on the controller?

Re: HPE DL380 G7 not showing 'Select Boot Volume' in ORCA

Im not sure which firmware exactly, but its clearly not the version that added boot drive selection. Is there any documentation on how to update it?

Re: HPE DL380 G7 not showing 'Select Boot Volume' in ORCA

Greetings!

If the server is already running an OS, the firmware can be flashed online.

https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?language=en_US&ismnp=0&l5oid=4091412&cep=on&kmpmoid=4091567&tab=driversAndSoftware&driversAndSoftwareSubtype=9000015&driversAndSoftwareQuery=P410i

Note: If the existing firmware is too old, then it is recommended that the firmware be upgraded in incremental order.

The firmware can also be upgraded offline using Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version Gen7.1 initiating offline deployment

Re: HPE DL380 G7 not showing 'Select Boot Volume' in ORCA

None of these methods work. I run Linux Ubuntu Server and the rpm file says my OS isnt compatible. The server is both private and second hand so the SPP will not work either.

Re: HPE DL380 G7 not showing 'Select Boot Volume' in ORCA

Greetings!

You could try on a compatible version of Windows server OS.

As informed earlier, please upgrade in incremental order if the existing firmware is very old.

Ok so I managed to get the SPP and that appears to have worked, thanks everyone.
