HPE DL380 Gen10 – Adapter Status Unknown on 100Gb 841QSFP28

Hi Team,

We have five HPE DL380 Gen10 servers.

On two of the servers, we are using the HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port 621SFP28 Adapter – status shows as OK.

On the remaining three servers, we are using the HPE InfiniBand EDR/Ethernet 100Gb 2-port 841QSFP28 Adapter – status is showing as Unknown.

We are using 100Gb QSFP28 to QSFP28 DAC cables on both types of adapters.
The data switch is an Aruba 8325C.

Does anyone know why the 841QSFP28 adapter is showing as "Unknown"?
Would really appreciate any tips or suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.

Thanks

@Akash1S

Give a try to below troubleshooting steps and let me know:

- Check both the firmware and drivers for the InfiniBand adapter are up-to-date.

- Make sure HPE InfiniBand adapter is compatible with the Aruba 8325C switch and that the DAC cables are suitable for both the adapter and the switch.

- Confirm DAC cables are properly connected and seated in both the adapter and the switch.

- Check iLO logs for errors and review BIOS settings to ensure no configuration is blocking the adapter.

-  Aruba switch ports are configured correctly and support 100Gb connections.

-  Look through server logs for any related errors.

- Make sure you are using the latest versions of HPE SUM and other tools for better diagnostics.

- If using InfiniBand mode, confirm the correct InfiniBand drivers are installed and working.

I hope this helps. If you still facing the same issue, please reach out the HPE Support for further assistance.
