HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
We have a few VMs and two drive arrays on a DL380 Gen10 server. After a recent firmware and OS update (ESXi customized 7.0.3 from HP) the fan speeds have doubled and now run at 29-49%, which is obnoxiously loud. Nothing about the environment or the load has changed. Does anyone have any suggestions? We've been putting up with this for a week now.

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
Did you have any luck resolving this? I'm having the same issue with 2 DL380 Gen 10s and the only change I'm aware of is iLO updating to 3.04

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
Greetings!
As per the screenshot, I could see 3rd party drives. Please test the server with HPE drives and check the result.

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
The non HP drives have never been a problem until the firmware update - The server ran fine for a full calendar year. We can test this after hours.

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
-> Also verify Ambient/environmental temperature where the server is located.
-> Verify that all air baffles and required blanks, such as drive blanks, processor heatsink blanks, power supply blanks, etc., are installed. to ensure proper air flow within server.
-> Please ensure thermal configuration is set to Optimal cooling

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
@BPSingh We removed all non-HP drives and rolled back system BIOS to 2.7.2 and the fan noise is still very high. Does anyone have any further suggestions? Nothing else has changed in the environment, ambient temperatures are stable.

Re: Query: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
Greetings!
Please check the version of ILO, SPS and Innovation Engine running on the server. Update to the latest version and check the result. If the issue continues, please create a support case and provide the AHS logs so we can pinpoint the root cause.

Re: HPE DL380 Gen10 Fan Noise
We are experiencing the same after updating to iLO 3.04. We have reverted back to 3.03 at the moment.
It looks like after updating to 3.04 the temperature sensor 27 for embedded lom is missing:
sensors on 3.03:
sensors on iLO 3.03
sensors on 3.04sensors on iLO 3.04
fan speed on 3.04:
