HPE DL380 GEN9 12Gb SAS Expander Card not found

Hi all,

I've added an HPE DL380 GEN9 12Gb SAS Expander Card (727250-B21) into my 3rd x8 PCI express slot and connected it via ports 5 and 6. I've inserted an NVMe disk (WUS4BB076D7P3E3) into the mid bay. The expander card is working, and the disk is showing green lights, but the SSD is not being detected in SSA. Additionally, there are no changes in the device manager. I suspect I might be missing drivers but couldn't find any.

I would appreciate any help.

Hi,

727250-B21, HPE 12Gb SAS Expander Card is compatible with the server.
WUS4BB076D7P3E3, but this 7.68TB U.2 NVMe Western Digital Ultrastar SN640, is this compatible?

SSA may not able to read non-HPE branded HW and/or FW, so that could be the problem.

Any how, try updating the SSA and storage controller firmware.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the G9 server didn't have an NVMe-capable RAID controller, there were only SAS/SATA Drives Supported.

And the SAS expander was just a SAS/SATA expander.
The so-called tri-mode controllers with NVMe/SAS/SATA support only came in later generations.

In G9 NVMe disks only worked via direct connection to the CPU.
