HPE DL380 Gen9 and nVidia M4000 GPU

All I have a HPE DL380 Gen9 server that has the dual Xeon's.  I have the GPU riser and the GPU enablement kit for the server.  I purchased a Nvidia M4000 from HPE that was listed as the support GPU for this machine.  I have Windows Server 2016 installed on the box that is already up and running.  I following the instructions that were included in the enablement kit that walk through putting the GPU card and cables. in.  I have installed the latest drivers from Nvidia for Server 2016 and M4000.  When I open the device manager in Windows there is a Code 43 error that "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.".  I have contacted both Nvidia and HPE who point to each other.  I have swapped the M4000 out with a K5000 with no success.  I have uninstalled the drivers and used a couple revisions older.  There are several cables that came with the enablement kit that I could swap out.  But I am completely stumped as what to do next.  Has anyone had this issue.

The server info in detail:

  • HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9
  • 2xE5-2669v4
  • 1.5TB RAM
  • P440ar 8SFF
  • 2x800W Perf Server
  • BIOS version 2.52

Re: HPE DL380 Gen9 and nVidia M4000 GPU

Hello,

Have you tried these steps from this portal?

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/solved-nvidia-code-43-windows-has-stopped-this-device-because-it-has-reported-problems/

In my desktop or laptop with Intel Graphics card, I use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller https://www.wagnardsoft.com) in case I need to remove the graphics driver completely.

May be you can try this software to completely uninstall Graphics Driver and reinstall the same.

Note: Please ensure you have a valid data backup before proceeding.

Thank You!

Re: HPE DL380 Gen9 and nVidia M4000 GPU

Has anyone gotten an Nvidia card that is listed for the DL380 gen9 to work?  If so, what cable did you use that comes with the GPU enablement kit?  There are four different cables.

  • Part # 504660-003, 10 Pin to 6 pin (Tried and didn't work)
  • Part# 670728-001, 10 Pin to 6 and 8 Pin
  • Part# 670728-002, 10 Pin to 6 and 6 Pin

I found solution:

I have to use: cable 670728-002 (755742-001) 10pin -> 2x 6pin. After connect with this cable Bios detect card Nvidia M4000 and ubuntu show it too.
