I got a few of these obscure dual microSD RAID-1 HPE USB sticks. It seems to be a pretty interesting device I newer saw before.
Unfortunately it turned out to work only in Gen 9 servers (maybe Gen 10 too??) and they only work when installed before the server powers up. Plugging them in after startup just shows an 47kB volume with a few text files.
My question is, can this thing be used elsewhere? Is there a tool that works with windows? Or is the only purpose of them to install ESX to boot a Gen 9 HP server from? And nothing else?

SolutionHello,
Based on the user guide, it seems that this is only supported with ESXi:

Also, I see this documented regarding the files you see when you insert it AFTER POST has completed.

Re: HPE dual 8GB microSD EM USB kit memory-stick
Yeah thanks, that confirms my observation.
So this USB stick it totally useless outside of a Gen9 server or in any non-HP product. What a shame, it would be cool to have an RAID1 USB drive....
