HPE MR416i-p Gen11 Controllers on DL380 GEN11s

Hi All,

We want to configure a RAID6 array for 22 x 2.4Tb disks, giving 48Tb capacity.
However, the HPE DL380 has two HPE MR416i-p Gen11 Controllers:

HPE MR416i-p Gen11 Controllers
16 drives
HPE MR416i-p Gen11 Controllers
6 drives

How do we configure a contiguous RAID6 array?

Only possible by using Software Raid with the OS.

Continuous Hardware Raid is not possible in this configuration, maybe with SR932i-p.

But doesn't the MR416i-p support multiple ports to connect SAS expanders, enabling large storage configurations?

There is no SAS Expander Support for the Gen11 Server. ☹

So how do customers create large RAID6 arrays? 

E.G. if customers have 22 disks on a DL380 Gen11, the Server needs to be configured to allocate disks evenly between the two onboard MR416i-p Gen11 controllers, ensuring each controller has sufficient redundancy.

As I wrote, the SR932i-p supports up to 32 direct-connected SAS/SATA/NVMe with Raid 6.
