HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Hello, recently I see that I cant connect to my server, the monitor says theres no uefi partition to boot, that was so strange, looking again i saw that the drives fail and was desactivated for precaution of lossing data.
Theres just the option to see directly in the smart array mannager, for my surprise the Logical Drive Option ROM POST Error: 1779-Slot 0b Drive Array - Replacement drive(s) detected OR previously failed drive(s) now appear to be operational. I continue with the only option to rebuild parity in high , after 7 or 9 hours its finished but in the logical drive it still says error in the initialization.
Theres 3 SSD with 980 GB, the server its out warranty.
I read that I just need to update de Firmware but I have to paid for it.
I dont know what more I can do to fix it.
Firmware flashed (System BIOS - U23 v2.56 (01/22/2018))
Firmware flashed (iLO 4 2.55)

Re: HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Hi,
Only some firmware's require active contract/warranty to download.
Rest of them are free, see here.
I dont know which controller or SSD is in your server, but if possible, update the Firmware of the Array controller, SSD and iLO.
Before you do any of these, please take a backup of your data from the server.
Thank You!

Re: HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Hello,
The error is : ROM POST Error: 1779-Slot 0b Drive Array - Replacement drive(s) detected OR previously failed drive(s) now appear to be operational
The above error is usually noticed when there is a bad drive in the array. The drive might have been failed or there are unrecoverable media errors detected on the drives in the array.
If the Logical drive is in failed state, rebuilding is not a suggested action.. Rather Re-enabling the logical drive first would have been a recommended action in this case.
Please refer to the below documents for the same :
https://techlibrary.hpe.com/docs/iss/shared/gen9/error/Advanced/Content/242751.htm
Since the logical drive is stuck in initialization state, there is a possibility that the errors are still there.
Due to parity in RAID 5, and rebuild process, there are high chances that the errors may be present on more than one drive.
The faulty drive/drives need to be identified and replaced at the earliest to avoid any further data unavailability issues
So the logs would provide the clear picture of the fault.
Please take the data backup at the earliest
Please log a case with HPE support, so that the logs can be analyzed and corrective actions can be shared.
Thanks,
TAM

Re: HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Can you share a ML30 gen9 me ROM bin backup file? There seems to be a problem with my machine. I need a me ROM, which is the one next to Nanqiao on the motherboard. If there is a programmer to read it, it's ok if there's no one. Thank you

Re: HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Thaks for the respond.
Yeah, I did that the guide say, but it guide me to the smart array administration where I see the logical drive failure.
Other people advice me to try to use the windows media recovery but it was the same with innacesible boot.
I tried to see the disk with hirens to bakcup , but its says theres no disk.
I want to shared the logs with HPE, but they say me that I have to pay first and i´m waiting for the contract.

Re: HPE Proliant GEN9 ML30 Logical Drive Failure RAID5
Hello,
Thanks for the response.. Yes , you would require the support agreement with HPE for technical assistance on this.
As the issue is related to data, we would need to properly diagnose using the logs and suggest next actions. Windows recovery might not work until the logical drive is completely accessible.
Thanks,
TAM
