HPEMR416i-o Gen11: add disk to existing raid

I would like to add two new disks to an existing volume (Raid10) on a ProLiant DL380 Gen11 server on a HPEMR416i-o Gen11 adapter. I get this error:

I ran the command with type=raid1 and type=raid10, with the same error.

I found this in the HPE StorCLI User Guide:

Can someone help me with the error or is it really not possible to extend the raid with two additional disks with raid10?

Re: HPEMR416i-o Gen11: add disk to existing raid

Hi @MarioE ,

RAID 10, 50 and 60 levels cannot be expanded by adding the disks in MR controllers. Hope this document may help you.

Re: HPEMR416i-o Gen11: add disk to existing raid

Hi @shiva_jr

Thank you for the information and the link, that's exactly what I suspected.
Then I guess I'll have to do this:

"If you want to expand RAID 00, 10, 50 or 60, you will have to first create a backup of your system. Delete the array and create a new array with all the drives, Now restore your backup to the array."

Re: HPEMR416i-o Gen11: add disk to existing raid

Hi @shiva_jr

Thank you for the information.
Would an expansion with Raid 10 be possible with the SR932i-p Gen11 controller? Is there any documentation on this?

Re: HPEMR416i-o Gen11: add disk to existing raid

Hi @MarioE ,

I could not get more detail on expanding the Double RAIDs (10, 50, 60) in SR controller in the HPE documents.
    Post1, post2 and post3  may help you..
