Solutionhps report is a collection of logs various subsystems within the server. You can choose to analyse them separately with appropriate method (eg. windows event analyser ).

Re: hps report
Once you generate an HPS report, it will saved in cab file, just extract it using winzip to a folder and you will find excel files, the same excel files are also in the form of event logs, just browse through different excel files as required

Re: hps report
One of the first places that I'll look after extracting it is the msinfo.nfo file. It consolidates alot of info that the other files list individually.
