iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
I have two DL380 G6 servers with an iLO2 interface with updated firmware and drivers. Both iLO interfaces respond to a ping yet I cannot connect to either of them via port 80 or 443. We have a number of other iLO interfaces on thes same subnet which I can connect to, demonstrating it isn't a network problem. I have also tried resetting both.
The OS is Windows 2003 R2 SP2 (x32 and x64).
Suggestions?

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
Try to use RDP to remote into the server and then use SMH to check/verify the iLO port security settings and interface status?

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
HPONCFG.EXE shows port 80 and 443 configured as expected. When logged onto the server via RDP, the Management Processor status is Enabled, NIC Condition OK, and it is in a green state.
I haven't connected a laptop directly to the iLO port. Do I need a crossover cable?

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
Can you explain exactly what happens when you try to connect to the iLOs ?
If you're using Internet Explorer, what error does it display ?
Cheers,
Rob

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
I apologize for the delay. Here are the details:
* I am able to ping the iLO interfaces
* I am unable to connect to iLo via any web browser
* I am unable to telnet to port 80 or 443
* I connected directly to the iLO port via a cross over cable and could successfully connect to iLO via web browser.
I am now engaging my network team. I hadn't engaged them previously because I am able to connect to other iLO interfaces on the same subnet and we normally do not block based on specific IPs.

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
It turns out the iLO network we use for iLO interfaces uses a non-standard subnet mask and gateway. I have reconfigured it and it now works. What threw me is the fact I was getting a ping reply. Oh well.
Can I just assign all of you points for being so helpful?

Re: iLO 2 Responds to Ping yet cannot connect via http/s
I should have thought of that... Having the wrong subnet mask can cause all sorts of strange things to happen.
> Can I just assign all of you points for being so helpful?
Of course you can... You can (and should) assign points to all replies.
Cheers,
Rob
