iLO 5 password reset

Hi,

Our customer has returned a DL380 Gen10 to us with an iLO password set.

i have tried the ILO security Overide procedure - but i am still unable to gain access via either the web interface or by pressing F9/system configuration/iLO 5 configuration utility, during boot.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

System ROM: u30 2.62 3/8/2022

iLO firmware 2.65

As stated in my OP, i cannot access to either the web utility or the iLO 5 configuration utility as they are password protected.

the link provided only explains how to "factory reset" the iLO, it doesn't explain how to reset the Administrators password.

Hi,

Make sure the S1 switch is in ON position for reset.
Also you can try S6 option to "Restore default manufacturing settings".

thanks,

i have tried this and it fails to allow me access to either web or F9 Config Utility. (see OP)

they are still password protected. 

Fortunately i have been able to contact our customer and they have given us the required info to access and reset the iLO.

please note that using the S1 fix failed to allow access as system remained password protected on both the web interface and the F9 Configuration Utility and that the S6 fix fails to reset the iLO Administrator password to the default.

I have the same problem.. but still could not solve this problem. Because the customer does not have a password.

But it seems it is valid also for ILO5, of course you need the OS user root password ...

This server installed the Windows server 2016 OS. Therefore, can not do it that way.

Any Idea for Windows os?

I have not found a specific version for Windows server 2016 but this one should be OK

I cannot access the iLO online configuration utility because they as they are password protected.

I don't understand ....this is the HPONCFG that is executed at OS level, if you have the password of the Windows Administrator user you can reset the ILO password or the ILO configuration, isnt' it ?

Just found a solution to the iLO5 password reset.....

while system is powered off (power cables removed), set dip switch 1 to on, remove system battery for a few moments, then replace the battery and power on.

Enter F9 and then go to iLO configuration utility, password was not required and access to "user managemet" and "edit user"

Password then changed back to default.

Power off server & set switch 1 to off.
