ILO option "Alway On" missing under Lifecycle management
We have a brand new DL380Gen11 server which initially had 2 problems:
- servercrash on cpu level, a HPE case is running
- after applying latets service pack the fans are contstantly at 31%, even without load (for example booting into IP), a HPE case is running
The first 'might' be due an old bios version the server was shipped with (2.22). The next step in the case is to update to a new version. Ofcourse we already did before but we went back to v2.30 because of the second problem: any bios higher than 2.30 makes the fans spin at 31% minumum. So we are in a vicious circle here. And we definately want to end up with a recent bios version because of security and bugfixes/enhancements but we don't want the risk of another servercrash. So curious how the case will develop.
Now the problem I'm adressing here is a third:
Somewhere along the road (might be even from factory) the option 'Always on' Intelligent Provisioning is missing from ILO 'Lifecycle Management'. I can't get it to show. I want it to work because of upcoming maintenance/monitoring on raid configs and other things and it simply should be available. I have tried different verison combinations ILO, IP and Bios but it simply does not show the menu item/tab at all. I have reset ILO and re-entered ILO advanced license.
We have an identical server where the option is visible (same fan problem tho).
Current version:
Bios: 2.30 (not higher because of fan problem)
ILO: 3.66 (lates version, also tried 3.65 but other server also has 3.66 and that one is showing always on)
Intelligent Provisioning: 4.35 (flashed through recovery media)
Is there another firmware package for the always on version somewhere that has to be flashed to enable it? Initially I could not get the IP ISO to boot though ILO virtual media, but eventually it did and the flash completed nicely as far as I can tell. Server is installed with VMWare ESXI 8 so no windows flashing option (unless I boot from a WinPE ISO or such)

Re: ILO option "Alway On" missing under Lifecycle management
Additionally, when checking firmware/software versions on both servers there is a difference:
working server:
Intelligent Platform Abstraction Data: v11.6.0 Build 29
Intelligent Provisioning: v4.33.5
Problem server:
Intelligent Platform Abstraction Data: v11.8.0 Build 33
Intelligent Provisioning: *MISSING*!
So my hunch seems right, I am missing some firmware or it isn't available. I cannot seem to find a firmware packge for IP, only the recovery media which has already been installed.

Re: ILO option "Alway On" missing under Lifecycle management
Dear Pvlier
can you please set some settings from bios , it might works for you.
- From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Server Security > Advanced Security Options > Intelligent Provisioning (F10 Prompt).
- Select a setting. Enabled: When enabled, you can use the Intelligent Provisioning functionality. ...
- Save your setting.
Hope, I could provide you with clear and helpful instructions. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help!
Have a great day!!
Thanks & Regards...
Rabindra

Re: Query: "Alway On" missing under Lifecycle management
This option was already enabled. I also see the F10 prompt at boot.
When I boot into intelligent provisioning I now only get the option to start 'SELF UPDATE", it boot what looks like a linux environment, gives a few errors (libip4tc.so.2 no such file) and "failed to create symbolic link './hp-ev': File exists'.
After that it is stuck at downloading https://update.it.hpe.com//v3/download/gaius-4.33-5.x86_64.rpm/xxxxxx
I can download the file in my browser if I copy the link

Re: Query: "Alway On" missing under Lifecycle management
@rabindra11sharm When I boot from the intelligent provisioning recovery media (thru ILO virtual media) it completes without problems. I can push shift + i to boot into Intelligent provisioning after the flash process. After a reboot I can boot into Intelligentprovisioning and the option "Always on" is there again after a re-login!!
ps. I also have 'Intelligent Provisioning v4.35.5' listed under firmware, not sure if because of latest upgrade or earlier actions, because I did try the recovery media option before.
