Hi everyone,
i am trying to install Windows Server 2016 on a DL380 G9. I´m always getting the Error at the Windows Installation Prozess "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation"
systeminformation:
Newest SPP already installed.
2 x 400GB SSD (RAID1)
13 x 1.2 TB SAS (RAID5)
What i´ve tried:
install with different USB Devices (with different tools, rufus and so on)
install with iLo virtual media. tried to install an other .iso (Server2019) - same error.
reset BIOS to default. the error appears also at the RAID5 array. Not only RAID1 SSD array.
tried it on another Host (same HW, same config) - same error.
Tried to install the .iso with intelligence provisioning. same error.
Tried also to unplugg the whole raid5 array - so there is just the raid1 array in the host.
Secure boot is disabled. tried legacy boot - same error.
i would be very grateful for any advise and help. thanks.
Andy

Re: Install Windows Server 2016 on HPE Proliant DL380 Gen9
Hi, thanks.
I have already plugged all usb drives out, also all RAID5 disks so there was just the two SSD devices (RAID1). i changed the usb stettings as you mentioned.

Re: Install Windows Server 2016 on HPE Proliant DL380 Gen9
Hello,
Please try below :
Login into Server RBSU by pressing F9 System Utilities. Navigate to Systemconfiguration --> BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU)--> System Options --> USB Options Disable both Virtual Install disk and USB 3.0 Mode
Once user have made these changes in RBSU, Press F10 to save and Quit from RBSU.
Restart the OS installation from the beginning, and During Windows Setup, you choose "Load Drivers" in order to supply storage device drivers, and insert a USB flash drive containing the driver/ mount the driver thru ILO folder / copy the driver into a folder and convert that folder into ISO image and mount that image in ILO Virtual image.
After supplying the driver by means of USB, leave the USB flash disk inserted until Setup restarts the computer.
Regards

SolutionHi everyone,
after three days of testing and testing, here my solution that i found.
the problem was the USB SD Card Stick (dual sd card) which was direct plugged in on the mainboard for an earlier ESXi installation. unplugged the stick and it worked. maybe someone has a similiar problem with an installation. hope can help.
have a great time everyone.
