installing Mini-SAS card on windows 2003 Ent 64bit

Deal all, where can i find a right drive for the Mini-SAS card with part number 462828-B21.

I want to connect my back device to the server running windows 2003 Enterprise 64bit. I went to the HP website and downloaded many drives but the card still can't be seen on my windows what can i do?

Hi, what did you install this in?

462828-B21 is a P212

Quickspecs say it should work on 2003 x64:

If I go here:

and then "2003 64-bit for extended systems" there are some drivers. Both normal and non-miniport. Which did you try?

Hi Johan,

I went to this site and there i found a lot of them like the list below, i donwloaded some of them and teste and nop, my questions is, do i need to donwload all these drives? My server is HP DL 380 G6 and i would like to know from the list below which drive is the right one.

Hi, you seems to be mixing up the terms.

Drive - a physical disk drive

Driver - something in the operating system that talks to the hardware (in this case a RAID controller P212).

All those ROM Flash Components are for disk drives.

They are not 'needed' to get the card to work on your 'DL380 G6' machine.

If you want to find which disk drives you have install ACU or ADU - array configuration or diagnostic utility.

Go to 'extended 64-bit systems' instaed of '2003 64-bit' in the link I posted above. This has drivers and not only firmware updates.

Hi Johan,

thank you for the clarification. After installing the ACU the card will show up on the server to enable me to mapp it to ape drive. because the finality is to connect to the WoskStorage 448 tape backup.

OK cool. I thought you wanted to add disk drives.

Do you really have to do any mapping in ACU for the tape drive? I thought ACU was only for disks (arrays..).

The P212 is supported with the Ultrium 448.

While you're at it, check out the tool HP Library and Tape Tools. This is the application to upgrade firmware and run diagnostics on the tape drive.

Fine, i think you now you got my point.

I have the HP DL 380 G6 server running windows 2003 enterprise server 64bit and installed there the 462828-B21 - HP Smart Array P212 Controller and want to connect to my backup device HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 SAS that is stored on the AE459B - HP StorageWorks 1U SAS Rack-Mount Kit.

When i connect the Mini-SAS cable nothing happen on my server, i can't get the card or tape drive recognition on the server and my questions is what can i do, wich software do i have to install in orde to use the simple Windows backup tool to do a tape backup.

How are you seeing that the server cannot detect the tape drive?

Step 1: Install HP's Library and Tape Tools.
