installing w2k without smartstart cd is it possible?
I've got a Proliant 1600 Dual PII 266Mhz without a smartstart cd and I'm trying to install win2000 on it.
Can someone tell me if this is possible and how. Been trying but not getting anywhere.
I think I'm having problems in getting the scsi controller detected properly by windows.
thanx

Re: installing w2k without smartstart cd is it possible?
Yes, this is possible. Due to the age of the BIOS you need to first update it with SP14127. This will help in the future. Skip Hardware detection. Then you will need to specify the IDE cdrom ATAPI 1.2. These drivers are native to Windows 2000. For the SCSI controller you will need to download and create a floppy and then you can specify the driver depending on what type of controller you are using.
Here is a link for the drivers.

Scroll down to STORAGE CONTROLLERS and pick whcih one you have.
