INTALLAZIONE PROXMOX VE CON HPE NS204i-u Gen11 Boot Controller

Buongiorno,

Come potrei fare?

Grazie

Good morning,

I'd like to install PVE on an HPE DL380 Gen11 server. I have an NS204i-u Gen11 Boot Controller.

Is there a way to use the controller without RAID 1? There's no way to destroy the RAID in the BIOS settings.

I'd like to install PVE on an NVMe drive on the NS204i-u controller and use the second NVMe drive for the BD and WAL. How can I do this?

Thanks

Hello @sandroRYS,

You cannot use the two SSDs inside the NS204i-u as independent drives (one for boot, one for BD/WAL) because the module is designed to force a mirrored RAID1 for boot only. But you can absolutely use it for boot, and then separately use other NVMe drives for your BD/WAL storage. That gives you the architecture you want: a dedicated boot device (redundant) + separate high-performance NVMe storage for PVE’s data layer.
