Integrated Array Controller

I am trying to do a new, manual install of NetWare 4.11 and cannot get any drivers to recognize the integrated array controller. It is configured using the Compaq Array Utility, and I have a DOS volume created on it, but Netware will not recognize it with any of the drivers that I have tried. Any ideas?? Also, what "slot" does the controller exist in?? All of the drivers I've tried ask for a slot number of the controller card even though it is integrated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Integrated Array Controller

Netware 4.11 is not a supported OS on this unit. There are no Compaq drivers available to support NW411. Recommendation is Netware 4.2. The available drivers are located on the SS4.80, 4.90 or www.compaq.com/support/files know as the Compaq NSSD's. The integrated Array Controller is a 4th generation controller and uses CPQARRAY2.HAM for support of he SCSI hard drives.

Re: Integrated Array Controller

Ok

I am having the exact some problem. I cannot upgrade the version of Netware because there are several other 4.11 servers on the WAN.

If I install a non-integrated Array Controller card into a PCI slot, will that solve the problem?

Please reply ASAP. This issue is very urgent.

Thanks

Re: Integrated Array Controller

Could you verify the path to the driver you mention: CPQARRAY2.HAM
I've searched through the nssd's. There are plenty of CPQARRAY.HAM to be had, but none with the 2. Unable to get Netware 4.12 to recognize the drives, please responds ASAP.

Re: Integrated Array Controller

Hello,
you will get the system running if you install the novell SP9a immediately after installing the Compaq drivers.
The steps (as I remember them):
configure server with smart start CD (reboot if necessary)
Install Netware, when prompted for allitional drivers
Path to directory etc.
Install and load Compaq Drivers
Install Netware Service Pack 9a
(dont reboot before SP9a).
When rebooting before SP9a the array controller will not again be detected and the system has no disks :-(.
Hope this helps!

Re: Integrated Array Controller

I'm running netware 4.x on a DL380.
The install process was done following a manual install text file found on the Smart Start CD supplied with the server. The Board driver used is a CPQARRAY.HAM - slot 10003 but you can tell to load with any slot number and it will come back and tell you what the correct one is if you've specified the inccorect one. Even if it is integrated the system still addresses it via a slot number/address.

Re: Integrated Array Controller

For NetWare the only driver is CPQARRAY.HAM. It was for Windows NT/2000,
that array controllers 2xx and 3xxx used CPQARRY.SYS and 4xx, 5xxx and Integrated Array Controller used CPQARRY2.SYS ! If you can't perform Assisted Intstallation from SmartStart, download NSSD 6.40, copy the \nwpa folder to the diskette and then the \4x subfolder to the same catalog on the diskette, overwritting the exoisting files. When NetWare installation is in the phase of trying to detect disk controller, switch from Install to System Console and manually enter:
load a:\cpqarray then load a:\cpqsha. Nwpa.nlm will be autoloaded from the diskette. Then switch back to Install, don't select any diask drivers, except ide drivers for CD-ROM and continue installation. After installation copy the files from the diskette to Nwtware startup directory and modify startup.ncf. You do not have to include any slot parameters while loading cpqarry.ham.
