I am considering the purchase of a DL785 for its characteristic as a powerful DB server.
I have read it comes with a minimum of 4 Quad Core processors on board.
As I am not planning to use all of 4 CPU, not at the beginning at least, I am wondering if there is a possibility to disinstall two CPU's (hardware approach) or disable them via some SW tool or via operating system (it will be RHEL).
I am making such an issue because we use Oracle on DB servers and as their licensing depends on the core's installed on the machine, having only two processors visible on the machine would allow us to save some money as far as we won't need all the four CPU's.
Thanks for support!
