[lab] Logic drive failed

ProLiant DL360p Gen8

HDD: HPE eg0600fbdsr

P420i

Issue: cannot create logic drive, always failed

How to reproduce the issue:

  1. Run intelligent provisioning
  2. System found five hdd (all HPE eg0600fbdsr, firmware HPD6)
  3. Create two logic drives on hdd 1/2/3 and hdd 7/8
  4. System showed logic drive created successfully, but physical hdd all failed. When checking details, both logic and phisical drives showed failure.
  5. Delete smart array, refresh, system cannot detect HDD anymore (but if hot plugged, refresh again, system can detect hdd again)

Question:

  1.  Can eg0600fbdsr worh with Gen 8?
  2. If can, what update do I need to do and how? I have SPP gen 8.1 ISO.

It's for a lab, and the server for sure has no support.

Thanks!

Re: [lab] Logic drive failed

Hi,

Is the drive supported, YES, if the drive part number is 652583-B21.
Please refer to HDD/SSD Model Number Matrix.

For the issue you are having with the server, I would update the drive FW along with P420i.

Some times the problem could be with the drive backplane and/or cables.  Here are some videos.

Thank You!
