Hi guys
I just purchased some Maxtor Atlas 10K U320 80 pin disks to get more space. The problem is that the activity lamp turns on when the disk is plugged in to the server - after a little while the failure lamp turns on.
There is nothing logged in the event log, neither is the disk visible in ACU, and nothing is shown on the diagnostics.
The DL380G2 has the latest firmware. I'm using the onboard 5i controller. any help would be great - thanks ;-)

Re: Maxtor 146Gb disk in DL380 G2
Have you tried it with more than one disk? It could be that this particular one was DOA.
Just a thought.

That's fact, whether you (or I) like it or not.
Using unsupported options causes all sort of trouble & with hard drives it is because you need one with specific firmware on it (read an HP/Compaq branded).
Rgds.

Re: Maxtor 146Gb disk in DL380 G2
First of all - thanks for all your answers.
I bought 2 and tried both in different machines - same result - the activity comes on and after about 30 sec. it turns to defective.
I use more (especially 73Gb) Maxtor drives in different Compaq/HP machines, also have som IBM drives, and they all work without any problems - so I'm still looking for a solution - could be that they both are defective.
Any inputs?
