ML 350 G4 memory upgrade

Hello,
our ML 350 G4 have 1Gb memory installed. It's Samsung PC2700R CL2.5 with ECC. I want to upgrade memory, but I have only identical 512 Mb DIMM.
I've read in "HP ProLiant ML350 Generation 4
Reference and Troubleshooting Guide" next:

1. A single DIMM configuration is supported in slot 1 only.
2. Aside from the single DIMM configuration in slot 1, always install memory in pairs of two identical DIMMs.

Do I have any chances to make to work server with 1,5 Gb RAM?

AFAIK, ML350 will not boot if not identical pairs installed. The reason - ML350 G4 REQUIRES memory interleaving when more than one DIMM is installed
