ML110 G10 CPU Upgrade

Hello is it possible to upgrade CPU from Xeon Silver 4110 (1.gen) to xeon gold 5218N (2.gen)? im asking because it says that fieldupgrade from 1.gen to 2.gen is not possible

Hello,

As field upgrade is not possible, I believe it means that it is not upgradeable and that the choice of the processor is tied at the time of purchase.

@TVVJ Are you 100% sure? why is that? because of the BIOS?

Hello,

I am not sure, but based on what is stated, it may be that the processor sockets on the system board and the heatsinks are designed with the respective processor generation, which might make them in compatible between generations.
