ML110 G7 + Debian + SAS disk recognizing problem
I have an old ML110 G7 server without array hardware and I want to install a debian 11 on it, using SAS-disks, but the disks are not recognized.
Even when booting into another, older installation for this server on 2 SATA-disks with Debian 10 on a software raid 1, it does not recognize the SAS neither.
In the ML110 G7 specs it says that SATA and SAS disks are both usable/recognized.
What do I miss?

Re: ML110 G7 + Debian + SAS disk recognizing problem
Hi,
As per the QuickSpecs, which is pretty old. Page# 3 and 20.
HP Embedded Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller (RAID 0/1/10)
NOTE: Supports up to four (4) 3.0Gb/s SATA hard disk drives only
SAS Controllers
NOTE: Support for SAS hard drives/tape drive requires selection of a SAS controller.

Re: ML110 G7 + Debian + SAS disk recognizing problem
Thank you, Suman_1978. Although I do not have a hardware array controller, there might be an embedded one. Maybe I can do something by repluging cables inside the server. I'll try that!
Thanks again

Re: ML110 G7 + Debian + SAS disk recognizing problem
Hi,
As per the QuickSpecs above in this post, the embedded controller only supports SATA drives.
For SAS drives, a new SAS Controller, SAS cables, drive cage/backplance is required.
If you need help in Cabling, please see page# 69 onwards.
Thank You!
