Re: ML110 GEN10 FAN NOISE AND SPIN FAST AFTER UPGRADE
Hi,
As your server is already on new firmware, I would suggest to check these things.
If you have installed any unwanted PCI cards, please remove them and test the fan.
You can also test the fans while the server is in UEFI mode (before booting to OS).
Check if all the fans are actually working.
Thank You!

Re: ML110 GEN10 FAN NOISE AND SPIN FAST AFTER UPGRADE
I don't have an ML110 G10, so take this with a grain of salt. (I have ML30 G10 *3 because they are cheap on yahoo auctions!) I do want one, but can't justify it unless 2 of the existing toys expire, and all these stories of noisy fans put me right off getting one.
Please go to your ILO, and in the temperature tab, see what it thinks 04-HD Max is. This (probably) comes from the P408i.
((( This might be something different like 04-HD Max. )))
The absense of this, with SSDs that aren't made of unobtainium, is Fan2 (rear case fan) in turbine mode. It also causes Fan3 (cpu) to go a little faster.
s1 p2 bay6 SAS HDD,
s1, p1, bay1 SATA SSD, (smells like an HP one)
s1 p1 bay3 SAS HDD,
s1 p1 bay4 SAS HDD
s1 p2 bay5 SAS HDD
The presence of HDD's suggest you should have a reasonable value for 04-HD Max ...

SolutionHi everyone, I have done several tests to solve the problem, I moved the hard disks, cleaned the dust, removed the ssd and without booting I checked if the fans increased but no solution.
Searching well on the internet I found this article:
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00141344en_us&docLocale=en_US
where it is reported that some hard disks (including the ones I have) need more cooling to work.
I then understood that the firmware update of the hard disks could have changed the speed of the fans.
I performed a firmware download of the 15k rpm SAS hard disks and magically everything returned to normal!
The good news is that I found the solution, the bad news is that it seems that these hard disks rot if they work at high temperatures.
