ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?alert=categoryresults&product_id=HPIA048BI
The server is to use the HP 372953-B21 SATA RAID card:-
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?alert=categoryresults&product_id=HPGA044OQ
The server is SCSI based but all the drives are to run off the 6 port SATA RAID card.
An 80GB drive will be used for the OS only, another 4 x 250GB drives will be in RAID 5 with a hot spare for data storage.
I just need confirmation that all the parts above are compatible as my worry is that I am assuming that the server will have a SCSI hot-swap backplane.
So how do the hot swap SATA drives fit in?
Is the backplane in this server able to take both SATA and SCSI drives?
Or does the 6 port SATA RAID card come with itтАЩs own SATA hot-swap backplane?
Hope this all makes sense.

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
That part is compatible with your server, or the one you want to buy.
If you buy that part, your server should come with a sata backplane instead or a scsi backplane which is part # 373012-001
Make sure with your vendor that they do not ship a scsi backplane and sata drives, they will not work.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
You should purchase a server with hot-plug SATA backplane, e.g. 380187-031

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
Do you have the part number to hand for the SATA Hot-Swap backplane?
Or do HP provide a 'ready' server with a SATA backplane that has space for 5 or 6 Hot-Swap hard drive bays?

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
If you want a full list of hot-plug SATA models go to:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12092_div/12092_div.HTML#Models
and look for HP-SATA description.

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
I have been told that the HP 399155-031 ProLiant ML150 G3 server is what I need to purchase:-
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=HP854562
(may need to click on the links in this post twice for products to appear properly).
However, this server only performs RAID 0 or 1.
Is the HP 372953-B21 6 port SATA RAID card ok to use with this server?
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?alert=categoryresults&product_id=HPGA044OQ
I have also seen the HP 411508-B21 HP Smart Array E200/128 BBWC Controller:-
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=HPGA04VHM
Not sure if this supports a hot spare though.
If somebody can confirm that it does support a hot spare, I will go for this controller.

Re: ML150 G" And 6 Port SATA RAID Card.
HP Live Chat has confirmed that the server will work with the E200 card.
