ml350 g3 install DVD drive

is it possible to install a sony DVD-drive in a ml350 g3 server? When I try to install the drive the server wont boot, the internal status light glows red.

Hello Austin,
It may or may not work.
BTW, which bay are you using this drive ?
If you are using it in the "removable media Bay" it requires the 2-device IDE Cable. Part # 305381-B21.

I'm also running into the same issue. I took an existing CDROM out and put a LiteOn DVDROM in and get the red "internal status" light.

Tried both IDE cables available, no go. Jumper is set to "CS"...no drivers to worry about here as system will not even POST.

Any other thoughts?
