ML350 G5 Convert to RAID 10 or add new RAID?
My customer has an ML350 G5 (running SBS2003) with 2 x 160GB disks configured as RAID 1 using the integrated RAID controller. They would like to increase their storage and and the same time improve performance.
My question is, is it possible to add two more drives and convert the RAID 1 to a RAID 10. Or alternatively, is it possible to add 4 drives and create a fresh RAID 10 for their data along side the existing RAID 1 boot drive all using the same controller? Basically, can the controller handle more than one RAID set?
Many thanks in advance.
Tom.

Re: ML350 G5 Convert to RAID 10 or add new RAID?
HP arrays are able to handle more raid sets with no problems. In case you need online migration/expansion, you need have battery backup cache in your server - it is unclear if you have it, but it could by added as an option. See your server quickspecs at: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12475_div/12475_div.PDF

The smart array controller kan do allmost whatever you want it to do.
here's some good reading:

And there's some greate links at the end of the technology brief.
