Hi,
Im currently having issues with one of our very old software build servers which randomly just turn off and then ASR reboots it, Sometimes it will run for a few hours and sometimes it will only run for a few minutes. If its really bad it won't even make it through POST. Its an Hp Proliant ML350 G6.
LOGS
In iLO 2 I have the following details from the IML logs:
- System Power Supply: General Failure (Power Supply 1) [ This error I can also see for Power Supply 2 but a few days before ]
- Power Cap cannot be reached with current server configuration
- Then there are a few logs mentioning that the PSU's are not Redundant
[The iLo logs just report server lost power]
PSU Details & things I have tried:
-Its running with 2 x 1200 PSU's [PSU's set in balanced mode in BIOS when running together,]
-I have tried running with each psu on their own and it still happens.
-I have also swopped the PSUs around and run them both together and on their own.
- I have run the Server both through the Invertor (Pure Sine Wave) back up power and directly into the mains
-I have run the server with bare essentials, 2 ram chips, onboard graphics, nics disabled.
-All firmware from what I can see and have looked at online are on their latest versions.
-Tried running the power profile in dynamic power saving mode
-Tried running it at static high performance mode
-Tried is OS Controlled Mode which is our default mode.
QUESTIONS
*Could this be a Power Back Plane issue ?
*Could both PSU's need replacing ?
*Unless its a Motherboard issue ? but when the server does manage to run, it runs perfectly fine.
Specs:
-Power Controller Firmware 2.9
-iLo Firmware 2.33
-2 x Xeon e5645 (total 12 cores, 24 Threads)
-64 gb DDR 3 ECC mem
-2 x 300GB HP Enterprise Drives in Raid 10 (p410i Firmware 6.64)
-2 x 128 Gb SSD - Gigabyte Drives in Raid 10 (p410i Firmware 6.64)
-Nvidia GT 1030 -> for HDMI output and for better driver support as the onboard ATI graphics is very outdated
-OS: Windows Server 2022 Evaluation (Recent Upgrade).

Re: Query: ML350 G6 - Turns off randomly
if that doesn't work, will get a 750 watt pair of psus. This server doesn't even pull over 400 watts at full load, so 750s should be sufficient
