Just replace it and the system does everything by itself?

Yes

I assume it's a Hot-Plug Drive with the Red Button.

Press this Button, while the System is running, release the failed Drive, and insert the replacement Drive.

The P420 Raid Controller should start automatically the rebuild.

Shown by blinking LED (#4).

This Drive has a "Do Not Remove LED" (#3), this is not the failed Drive, this shows the good one!
In Raid 1, be sure not to remove the good Drive.

LED #4 shows the Failed Drive.

@Cali

The drive is not faulty

there are two drives that have been working for a few years

I want to remove one, insert a drive with more years, copy, remove the other drive with less years as well, and use them in the new server.

Run the old server with only one drive (does it work???) and copy the contained data to the new server.

After copying the data, the old server will no longer be used. I hope I explained well, thanks

Hi,

I hope you have already performed this activity.

Your plan might work, provided servers are same model with same array controller.
In some cases, the other server where you put the drives, may show BSOD/PSOD due to drivers/firmwares mismatch.

In any case itтАЩs important to keep data backup before performing this activity.

NOTE: Data integrity is customer responsibility. HPE recommends having data backup frequently and before performing any activity so that it can be restored during disaster recovery.

Thank You!

@Suman_1978

the 2 hdds removed from the server will be formatted before use on the new server.

in the server i have 2 hdd (year 2016) in raid 1, i remove one hdd and insert 1 hdd of year 2013.

server rebuilds array by copying data to hdd 2013, then i remove other hdd 2016, now server will still work with only 1 hdd???

if it works I copy the data contained on the server to the new server where there will be 6 hdds

thanks

Hello @vimak

I hope you have completed the task.

If the drives are in Raid 1, it should work with one drive.

Let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.

Thankyou
Suman

I wait to receive my new ups, then I proceed, I would not like to have problems due to a sudden lack of energy.

thank you

Hello, i took out one hdd and inserted another one.

It's been 48 hours and he still hasn't finished rebuilding raid 1.

Is it possible that it takes that long?
