ML350 gen9 Installing the HPE NVMe Express bay
I have a NVME cage that i need to:
Connect the other two ends of the power Y-cable to the cable connectors from the server power supply backplane.
like in the HPE docs
Question...
do i have to remove the system board to access these cable connectors as they do seem tucked under pretty far?
Or can i remove the battery and the black plastic in front of the system board to gain access?
Cheers James

Re: ML350 gen9 Installing the HPE NVMe Express bay
The only plugs i can possibly see are the GPU ones on the power backplane J12 and J11.
Does anybody on the planet know where these go?
HPE support are non exsistant making everyone come here to drive SEO for free.
At least Apple have customer service.
HPE cant even rate above average on lighthouse scores..
Any Humans out there who aren't just into pasting links for badges would be greatly appreaciated....

Re: ML350 gen9 Installing the HPE NVMe Express bay
This is the "wiring diagram" from HPE...
The green wires are the confusing ones...who makes these diagrams, Fred Flinstone?
This is one end of the Y connector i have to plug in to the power supply backplane! correct part number so HPE say..
In reality this is not the case, would say this cord is for a DL380
Pic of Powerplane, maybe the "correct cord and plug part number plugs into the J11 & J12 GPU plugs?
Have been on https://partsurfer.hpe.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=726551-B21 as thats the enablement kit number and they say
822780-001 Miscellaneous cable kit
i go on google and search.
HP ML350 Gen9 NVMe 6 Solid State Drive Express Bay Enablement Kit 726551-B21 and up comes this pic from a Russian site which pretty obviously has a different Y connector than the one i have..
- HP DL380 ML350 DL560 Gen9 1x 8-pin to 1x 5-pin + 1x 10-pin Y-Split NVMe Power Cable Kabel 776392-001
Why is it so difficult for HPE to provide good documentation and or customer service?
Does anybody have actual experience with this and have actually installed one on the ML350 Gen9 and can provide some clarity?

Re: ML350 gen9 Installing the HPE NVMe Express bay
I'm looking to get the parts to install this myself in my ML350 G9.
I believe you need the Y cable in your last pic - according to partchecker it should be 779328-001 or 807479-001.
My understanding and looking at the connectors, you connect the Y cable to the already installed 6 pin plug for a standard 8x SFF backplane and a spare molex (on the DVD drive power lead).
The 5 x 1 pin power lead you have I believe is for use on the DL380 power backplane.
