ML370 G2 Help!

hi,
i have an ml370 g2 and recently installed win advanced server 2000. The installation was very slow and now when the server boots up it takes atleast 10mins to get into the OS. Is something wrong or is that normal with servers? How do i reconfigure and update to firmware for my smart array controller 5300? i would like to install win server 2003 but after it reboots it get the error msg "disk read error" i dunno if there is a real disk read error because i tried 2 different CD's of the same OS. I have 2 ultra wide3 36 gb hdd's and only 1 is detected and i am not sure how to test if the other one works or not?
thanx in advance

This is not normal for servers. Is this a new build, and you don't have any data you are worried about losing? If so, I would boot up to Smart Start CD and erase everything of the current configuration, then it will boot into Smart Start again. Configure your server and when you are finished, you will install the OS. You can check the HP site to see if your server is compatible with 2003. We are using ML370 G4's with 2003.

Re: ML370 G2 Help!

thanx, nah i dont hav any data on there i need and i will try to fix a on the weekend. Red Hat Linux 7.3 took 3 hours to install, i really dunno whats wrong with it and when i got into it i couldnt type anything into the user login page for the password. Lucky i didnt pay any money for the server in the first place, probably the reason i am having issues with it!
