ML530 - USB Mass Storage 200GB External Drive

I am trying to get an External USB 200 GB Hard Drive to work as a backup plan. When I try to format the HD the Proliant freezes up.

I have formatted the HD on another box and then re-attached the HD to the Proliant, but when I run a MS SQL Backup job the HD doesnt get all of the DATA and decides to crash out.

Has anyone had similar problems, or know of a solution?

Does the Proliant ML530 have USB 1.0 or 2.0?

thanks everyone.

Best Regards,
Dustin

Re: ML530 - USB Mass Storage 200GB External Drive

This is USB 1.1. The only things which are "officially" supported are: floppy, cdrom, mouse, and keyboard.

If you need to use this USB hard drive, I would recommend adding a USB 2 pci card.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
